How the install goes
How Artificial Turf Is Installed
The base under the turf decides how the finished surface drains and wears, so most of the work happens before the turf goes down.
Measure the yard for a free estimate
We look at the size of the area, how water moves across it, access for equipment, and any sprinklers in the way.
Remove the existing grass
Sod and the soil under it come out so the finished turf can sit level with pavers, edging, and doorways.
Set the grade and handle irrigation
The ground is shaped so water runs away from the house, and sprinkler heads inside the turf area are dealt with.
Build and compact the base
A base of crushed stone goes in and is compacted into a firm, level surface that drains.
Lay and secure the turf
Turf is cut to the yard, seamed, and fastened along the edges so it stays flat.
Infill and brush
Infill is spread into the turf and the fibers are brushed up so the lawn looks and feels finished.

Turf runs warmer than natural grass in direct sun. Shade and a quick rinse with the hose cool the surface, and some turf products are made to run cooler. Ask about those options with your estimate.
Water passes through the turf backing into the compacted base below, and the base is graded to carry it away from the house. That is why the base matters as much as the turf.
